Nuggets Take 2-1 Series Lead
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets overcame a slow start by the reigning MVP and a second-half surge by the Los Angeles Lakers to win Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals 101-99 on Saturday night.
Jokic finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists despite playing through foul trouble for much of the game. Jamal Murray, who had 26 points in the first half, was held to just 4 points in the second half as the Lakers made a late push.
Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 30 points and 23 rebounds, while LeBron James added 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. However, the Lakers were unable to overcome a 17-point deficit in the third quarter.
The Nuggets now lead the series 2-1 and will have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 lead when they host Game 4 on Monday night.
