Denver Nuggets Beat Los Angeles Lakers, Take 2-0 Series Lead
Big Night from Nikola Jokic Powers Nuggets to Victory
Jalen Hood-Schifino, Christian Wood, and Cam Reddish Combine for 50 Points in Loss
The Denver Nuggets took a commanding 2-0 lead in their Western Conference first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers with a 115-103 victory on Thursday night. Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Jalen Hood-Schifino, Christian Wood, and Cam Reddish combined for 50 points in a losing effort for the Lakers.
The Nuggets jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 20 points in the second half. Jokic was dominant from the start, scoring 15 points in the first quarter and helping the Nuggets build a 10-point lead. The Lakers chipped away at the lead in the third quarter, but Jokic and the Nuggets pulled away in the fourth.
The Lakers were led by Hood-Schifino, who scored 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Wood added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Reddish chipped in with 11 points. However, the Lakers were unable to overcome Jokic and the Nuggets' balanced attack.
The Nuggets will now have a chance to close out the series in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Lakers will need to find a way to slow down Jokic and get more production from their supporting cast if they want to avoid a sweep.
