Erling Haaland Fires Manchester City into Champions League Quarter-Finals

Citizens Secure Top Spot in Group G with 7-0 Victory Over RB Leipzig

Haaland's Record-Breaking Five Goals Lead City's Comeback

Manchester City's Erling Haaland rewrote the record books with a stunning five-goal performance as the Citizens stormed past RB Leipzig 7-0 to secure their place in the Champions League quarter-finals. Haaland's incredible feat eclipsed the club's previous record of 38 goals in a season, set by Tommy Johnson in 1929.

Despite trailing 1-0 at halftime, Manchester City produced a remarkable second-half fightback, with Haaland scoring all five goals in a breathtaking display of finishing. The Norwegian striker's goals came at the 58th, 63rd, 67th, 72nd, and 84th minutes, leaving Leipzig defenders in his wake.

Kevin De Bruyne added a late seventh for City to cap off a dominant performance that saw them finish top of Group G with 14 points from six games. Leipzig, who led through Dominik Szoboszlai's early strike, finished second with 12 points.

Manager Pep Guardiola hailed Haaland's performance as "extraordinary," saying, "He's a special player who can win games for us on his own." Haaland's remarkable goalscoring prowess has now seen him net 39 times in all competitions this season, solidifying his status as one of the most feared strikers in world football.

As Manchester City now turn their attention to the quarter-finals, they will be confident of making a deep run in the competition. With Haaland leading the line, the Citizens have proven themselves to be a formidable force capable of overcoming any opponent.
